We are beings made up of 65% water, and we need it to live. So it is not surprising that water is also an important source of relaxation. Taking a bath every now and then is a solution to fight stress and relax. Here is all our advice.
If taking a shower generally does use less water than a bath, this is not always the case. A 5-minute shower takes up about 60 to 80 liters, whereas a bath uses 150 to 200. However, in France the average shower is 9 minutes. Not so far from that of a bath after all. To be clear, you can indulge yourself from time to time without a problem and relax. That said, you should be aware that a bath has strong relaxing virtues especially when the water is between 34°C and 38°C, not more.
Baths, Benefits for the Body
The temperature of the bath is crucial.
Cold can be used to tighten up tissues and boost the immune system, as it is done in Scandinavia.
Hot is also good for circulation and improves breathing. Indeed, in warm water, the heart rate increases, the blood circulates easier, oxygen transport increases, and water vapor helps decongest the sinuses and lungs.
Furthermore, warm water helps dilate the pores, which improves the absorption of skincare products.
A Good Idea? Take advantage of it to renew your skin by doing a gentle scrub with our Organic Body Scrub, rich in revitalizing Rock Samphire, invigorating Alaria esculenta (brown seaweed), and moisturizing Organic Sunflower Oil.
Continue relaxing with our Delicious Shower Gel with a very gentle, soap-free cleansing base. The other tip is to add a few drops of Tiaré flower or Coconut Monoi, to perfume your bathwater and benefit from its nourishing and moisturizing properties.
Once the bath is over, the skin feels smooth and moisturized. And you can make it perfect by putting a few drops of our Dry Oil or Pearly Mist on your still damp – ready to receive the best of the ingredients. The first will moisturize without a greasy effect, whereas the latter will leave the skin feeling fresh.
And Your Mind!
During the bath, the muscles relax and the thoughts drift. Just the thing to help you get ready to go to sleep.
Spending some time in warm water also helps produce endorphins, the feel-good hormones, the ones that make you feel good, but also reduce pain and stress.
Beyond easing physical pain like back or headaches, a warm bath will calm the central nervous system and soothe deep-seated anxiety. Add in the benefits of aromatherapy, and that is all you need.
Indeed, putting some plant-based oils or a few drops of essential oil (diluted in another base), stimulates the areas of the brain that help generate a feeling of well-being. Choosing our Monoi, for instance, is sure to bring back memories of your holidays. Just the thing to imagine yourself on a sandy beach, and in no time at all.
