Our skin follows the rhythm of the seasons. Nature works wonders. In the following, we explain why it is important to adapt the texture of your facial skincare and how you should go about it. That way, no more tingling skin, welcome to absolute comfort!
The state of the skin fluctuates more than you might think. Hormonal imbalance, life events, temperature swings, or seasonal changes are all factors that challenge the epidermis. If the physiological state of the skin – that is to say normal, combination, oily, or dry skin – remains more or less the same, some characteristics may be intensified. In this way, during the winter, when temperatures drop, dry skin types lose even more nutrition and fade, normal skin feels uncomfortable, and combination to oily skin can get dehydrated and dry out. The solution to these sometimes irritating occurrences: choosing a suitable routine, starting with changing the texture or formulation of your skincare products.
The Difference between Fluid and Cream
For a more sensorial feel that fits the needs of all skin types, there are different textures of skincare: gel, fluid, lotion, cream, balm, or butter being the most common. The proportion of emollient (oily)and moisturizing (watery) ingredients will more or less define the richness of the product.
A gel, the freshest and full of water, will hydrate and not nourish, better for combination to oily skin.
A fluid or lotion feels light but has a bit of nutrition as well.
A cream can be as moisturizing as it is nutritive or mattifying, but a richer texture than the above enables forming a protective and soothing shield.
A Creamy Texture for All Skin Types?
In the summer, it might be easier to choose between a gel, fluid, or cream. In the winter, it is a different story.
Indeed, combination to oily skin types might be apprehensive about using a creamy product out of fear of getting shiny. However, a cream does not just contain nutritive, oily ingredients. Some are designed to moisturize, protect, and strengthen the skin, while also perfectly capable of limiting a shiny effect.
For normal to dry skin types, using a richer texture product like a cream during cold snaps is even more obvious, because without it, the skin will redden, mark, tingle, or even itch without it.
Indeed, to counter the effects of temperature variation that might cause water to evaporate, the skin will fight to stay moisturized.
The cream texture will enable the diffusion of a dose of hydration and protection for the entire day while preserving it from outside stress.
In our HYDRA-PROTECT + range, it is easy to change between the Fluid and the Moisturizing Cream because their formulas are rich in the same ingredients. That is to say Organic hyaluronic acid, which hydrates and replenishes, and Alga-Gorria® with antioxidant properties.
For combination to mixed skin types, it is possible to continue using the Fluid while adding the Replenishing Serum beforehand. It provides a supplementary bit of moisturization and protection, without an excessively rich creamy effect.
