Stocking up on Vitamin D during the summer is one thing. Taking care of your skin without compromising your tan is another. More than ever, it is the time to enjoy of the benefits of the sun to brighten your mood. Here are the right steps to take in a day.
Two Days Before Sun Exposure
Taking care of your skin means properly preparing it in advance. So, before enjoying the sun’s rays, which will warm and tint your skin, there is nothing quite like exfoliation. Recommended year-round with soft beads, you may exfoliate up to two days before sun exposure. It is best to avoid exfoliating on the day of, or during exposure to prevent already-stressed skin from becoming oversensitive. Therefore, we recommend a light, full-body exfoliation two to three days beforehand, as well as intense hydration. The skin will be silky, ready to be tickled by the sun, and it will retain its color for longer free of dead skin. Our certified Organic Body Scrub with Rock Samphire does it all. It tones, smooths, and refines the skin’s texture, in addition to gently exfoliating.
The Morning of Sun Exposure
Beach bag on your shoulder, towel under your arm, and glasses on your nose, are you ready to get out in the sun? Not totally! Remember to hydrate yourself well from the inside by drinking water, and above all, do not go out without applying your sunscreen. A few minutes can be enough for the UVA and UVB rays to deeply burn the epidermis and cause, at the very least, unsightly marks over time. Laboratoires de Biarritz suncare with mineral screens provide immediate protection against UV rays upon application. Our eco-friendly suncare range also has the advantage of being resistant, protecting the oceans, and being very easy to apply thanks to fluid and generous textures.
During Sun Exposure
The golden rule for the whole summer is to not break the pattern of applying sunscreen every two hours, even when the weather gets cloudy. Looking at the UV index of wherever you are can prove useful, because the closer you get to the equator, the quicker the index will increase during the day, and the more protection you will require. But be aware that bathing and perspiration reduce protection. Above all, do not forget certain areas (particularly the neck, nape of the neck, scalp, hands, etc.). Remember to reapply a layer of sunscreen as soon as you come out of the water, even if it has been less than two hours! Our Sport suncare range, however, is designed to be water and sweat-resistant, all whilst protecting the environment and the oceans, as it is free from silicones and controversial ingredients. Also, don’t forget to take a bottle of water out with you, because when out in the sun, it is crucial to stay hydrated from the outside as well as the inside.
After Sun Exposure
Just like that, the lazy day is over, and it’s time to go home. If your next step is to rinse off before slipping into your best evening outfit, opt for a shower oil or a shower gel like the one from our Océane range, to easily remove the protective mineral filters. Avoid exfoliating, especially if your skin is overheated or if it is peeling after a sunburn. To calm overheated skin, generously apply an after-sun product like our Organic After-Sun Fluid, rich in Alga-Gorria® (antioxidant) and a nourishing complex made with Organic Shea Butter and essential fatty acids that pamper the protective lipid barrier. Finish off in style with a few drops of our Organic Monoi Oil, which nourishes and hydrates all whilst transporting you far far away with its most exotic fragrance!
